Getting here
Whidbey is about an hour north of Seattle plus a short ferry ride. Here's the easiest way in.
Fly into SeaTac
SeaTac (Seattle-Tacoma International, SEA) has the most flights. From there it's about an hour's drive north to the ferry, more in traffic.
We recommend renting a car at the airport. Whidbey is spread out and rideshare on the island is limited. No car? The Whidbey SeaTac Shuttle runs between SeaTac and the island.
Take the Mukilteo–Clinton ferry
The crossing takes about 20 minutes, and boats leave every 30 minutes. There are no reservations. Cars line up first come, first served, so on summer weekends get to the dock at least 45 minutes early.
Drive to The Wayfarer
From the Clinton ferry dock it's about 15 minutes to the venue.
Rather skip the ferry? You can drive onto the island from its north end instead, over the Deception Pass bridge. It's a beautiful drive, but plan on about an extra hour.

Whidbey has plenty of inns and rentals but no big hotels, and August fills up fast. We've put together a list of places that work for singles, couples and groups, most within about ten minutes of the venue.

When should I arrive?
Arrive anytime between 2:15 and 3:00 and enjoy our welcome gathering on the lawn, with lemonade in the shade, records on the turntable and some time to say hello before the ceremony. Plan to find your seat a few minutes early as the ceremony will start at 3:00.
Ferries sometimes have long waits or delays, so plan for some extra travel time.
What should I wear?
Cocktail attire. Think a step up from a sundress, but not a black-tie gown.
The whole day is outside on grass with some uneven ground, so wear shoes you can walk in and leave the stilettos at home. Bring a jacket or a warm layer for when the sun goes down. The venue is outdoors and it cools off fast, even in August.
Can I bring my kids/extra person?
Unfortunately venue and dinner space is limited, and we're only able to host the people named on your invitation. If your name is on it, you're invited!
What airport should I fly into?
SeaTac (SEA) has the most flights and is the easiest place to pick up a rental car. Check out our Getting here section for info on the rest of the trip.
Ooh, a ferry ride! Do I need a reservation?
Not for this ferry! The route to/from Whidbey is called Mukilteo–Clinton and it doesn't take reservations, it's just first come, first served. Boats leave every 30 minutes, but summer weekends can get busy. Plan to arrive at the dock about 45 minutes before you want to sail.
Where should I stay?
We recommend finding lodging on the south end of the island. The closest town to the venue is Langley, and there are plenty of rental houses nearby if you're coming with a group. The western beaches of the south end have sweeping mountain views and beautiful sunsets, so they're worth a look if you want a view. Check out our list of places to stay to get some ideas.
Where can I park?
Parking is available at the venue. Please carpool if you're able, about 40 cars can park close and the rest will be directed to a nearby overflow area. We'll also provide a shuttle between Langley and the venue, so if you're staying in town you can leave the car behind.
Will it be outdoors? What if it rains?
We're getting married rain or shine! The venue is outdoors, so if the weather doesn't cooperate we'll have tents set up to keep everyone dry.
Is the venue accessible?
Most of the venue is grass, and there's a slight incline between the ceremony and reception areas. Venue staff will be on hand to help anyone who needs it, including rides from the ceremony to the reception area if needed. There will be plenty of chairs, so you'll never be far from a seat.

What about gifts?
We don't have a registry, and prefer no gifts. This is a destination wedding, and your being there is the gift, truly.
